Facilities
At Filey Zoo we hope to make your visit as enjoyable as possible whatever your age or ability. To help with this we’ve provided information on some of our facilities below, but if you can’t find what you’re looking for check our FAQ and Accessibility pages.
Gift Shop
Why not take home a reminder of your visit or treat a friend from our reasonably priced giftshop. With a great range of animal and nature themed gifts there’s something for everyone. Choose your favourite animal from our range of eco-friendly cuddly toys, the perfect mug or ornament for a friend, or simply another magnet to cover your fridge!
Had a great visit? Why not upgrade your ticket to a Season Pass, or purchase a gift voucher for a friend.
Café
The zoo has a small attractive café, which serves a variety of snacks including chilled sandwiches, sausage rolls, cakes, biscuits, crisps, hot & cold drinks and ice creams. We also serve a limited range of vegan, vegetarian, gluten and dairy free foods, and snacks. There are additional tables just outside on a sunny terrace, which is bordered by a fish pond and flower beds, and overlooks the lovebird aviary and surrounding open countryside.
You can also get food and drink to takeaway and eat at picnic areas around the zoo.
Picnic Areas and Seating
Enjoy the sunshine and scenery at one of the many seat and picnic tables around the zoo. There are main picnic areas near the wildlife pond and the playpark, alongside many more secluded benches and seats in the gardens and rest of the zoo. If its raining – or even too sunny! – there is a small marquee with a few under-cover tables.
You’re welcome to bring your own picnic, or simply grab some food from the café – we do hot take-out drinks if you’re in need of a pick-me-up!
Play Park
Take a break while the children let off steam on the playpark. They can test their skills balancing on the activity trail, climbing up onto the towers and platforms, going down the slide and fireman’s pole, or just hide away in the tunnels and dens.
There is a separate sandpit which is great for toddlers away from the bigger kids
There’s lot’s of picnic tables nearby so you can sit and relax whilst still keeping an eye on your children.
Toilets and Handwashing
Our clean modern toilet block is situated near the entrance and café. Both Ladies and Gents have baby changing facilities and there is a unisex disabled cubicle. Our toilets are checked regularly to keep them clean and well stocked.
Outside the toilets is additional undercover handwashing with soap and running water. Next to the picnic areas near the middle and far end of the zoo, you can find more handwashing facilities.
Car Park
Car parking is FREE. We have an easy to access stoned car park with additional grass overflow parking. You’ll find smooth tarmacked minibus and disabled spaces adjacent to the zoo entrance (please see our accessibility page for more information). There are also secure cycle racks next to the entrance.
If you need to go back to your car, and wish to re-enter the zoo please get a handstamp before exiting.
We welcome dogs in the zoo – please don’t leave them in a hot car!
Smoking and Vaping
Please note we are a non smoking site, however we there are designated smoking areas in the zoo which are clearly marked on the zoo map.
For the comfort and safety of our animals and other guests please do not smoke or vape anywhere else.
Dogs
We welcome well behaved dogs in all areas of the zoo except the children’s play park, please don’t leave yours in a hot car. Dogs must be kept on short leads (max 1m) and under the control of a responsible adult.
Please clean up – spare ‘doggy bags’ are available at the entrance or gift shop if you run out! There are also dog hooks and drinking water outside the toilets and café.
